I’m honored to have Malia of Playdough to Plato guest posting for me today. Her blog was one of the first educational blogs I became “addicted to.” She posts hands-on educational ideas for all kinds of subjects! Be sure to hop over to her blog and check it out!

Teaching kids how to read and write sight words takes plenty of practice. Why not make all of that hard work fun for kids?! These free printable sight word hunts are an engaging, motivating way to practice the 90 most common words in English. Just print one of the sheets, grab a pencil and magnifying glass, and you’re ready for some serious sight word fun.
FREE Sight Word Hunts
I included five different hunts in the set so you could work on a couple different batches of sight words – the first 18 Dolch sight words, the second 18 words, etc.
Since Big Brother {age 5.5} is still practicing words 1 to 18, I printed a copy of the first page and grabbed a pencil and magnifying glass. He was eager to start hunting for words and got right to work searching for something he recognized.
“For!” he read enthusiastically. I showed him how to copy the word on a blank line below and then cross off the word in the box so that he wouldn’t accidentally write it again. One word after another, he happily read and wrote all 18 sight words on the sheet.
Middle Brother {age 3.5} was eager to join in the fun and begged to have his own sheet to hunt for alphabet letters.
The sight word hunts were fun for everyone. I hope your kids love them too!

The link for the free sight word hunts is not working. It takes you to a 404 Error page.
Thank you for letting me know. I’m traveling today and don’t have a way to fix it, I’m afraid. I will fix it as soon as I can get to my laptop. 🙂
I love the sight words hunt worksheets but the download link is not working
I realise you’re not long back from your travels, but wondered when you’ll have a chance to fix this download as these hunts look perfect for my wanna-be-detective magnifying-glass-addicted son!
Yes ma’am. I fixed them last week. Is it still not working for you?
I’ve figured it out – there was a space in the link. It looks like you fixed the link in jumbo text, but not the one where it says “Grab your free sight word hunts HERE and be sure to check out….” which still has that naughty little space!
Whilst I was waiting for the printer to wake up and print the hunts, I had a quick scan down the page, and there are actually a couple of other places where you have pesky little spaces in the links! The first one I noticed was the first sentence in your second paragraph, “Teaching kids how to read and write sight words ” and the other was right at the end, the link to “Malia’s Egg Flip”. Hope this helps!
Thanks! I fixed that one. I didn’t realize there were two links to the printable.
