Reading the Alphabet Supply List

Need a Reading the Alphabet Supply List with everything listed in one place? Here you go!

I’ve been asked by several readers what supplies we use with Reading the Alphabet, so I’ve compiled a list here. You can grab our Reading the Alphabet Bundle or just use our free, Reading the Alphabet printables.

See many of these products in action by visiting our Reading the Alphabet Letter Lessons Sneak Peek or our Reading the Alphabet Word Family Lessons Sneak Peek. The updated version is coming later in July!

Reading the Alphabet Supply List

– Dry Erase Pockets – I REALLY like these (even better than plastic sleeve protectors) because they erase much easier, even after several days.

– Plastic Sleeve Protectors – These work best in the “My Handwriting Notebook.”

– Dry Erase Markers – I really like the dry erase markers with fine tips and with their own eraser.

– Scotch Thermal Laminator – Seriously. Such an amazing deal on a laminator! I’ve had mine for years and have had NO problems whatsoever with it. Well worth the investment, especially if you have multiple children who will be using your manipulatives. {I have the older version.} You’ll also want to grab their laminating pouches.

– Standard Pocket Chart – You can buy smaller pocket charts, like the table top pocket chart, but I LOVE our larger one. If you don’t have wall space, make a pocket chart stand out of PVC pipe like you see in this post.

– Pocket Chart Learning Cubes – These are a MUST if you’re teaching young learners!! When my kids were young, we used them daily! They’re soft and quiet. Plus you completely customize what you insert! We have both the photo stacking blocks {pictured} and Carson-Dellosa’s blocks. I personally like the photo stacking blocks better because they are well-made.

– Dot Paint Markers – While there are several kinds of dot markers on the market, these are my favorite. We’ve had them for YEARS and they are still going strong!

– Transparent Counters – We use these often for SO many things. Learners can cover the answers with transparent counters first, and then use dot paint. This allows your pages to be reusable. Learners can cover, and then dot on different days or on the same day.

– Scissors for Young Learners – These are literally the coolest scissors in the world for young children! The spring action helps them to open and close them easier. Then you push the spring out of the way when they are ready. Of course, you can use regular scissors for young learners, but all my kids have enjoyed these.

– Giant Push Pins – These are fantastic for the poke pages! Be sure you monitor your learners carefully with these. They are sharp! You can also toothpicks.

– Clothespins – While the wooden ones may last longer, they’re also harder to open and close. The plastic ones are easier {and more colorful.}

– Card Stock– If you’d like the paper to be a little more sturdy as learners are using the dot paint, card stock is a great option!

{Another idea is to use regular copy paper and just add scrap paper under it to prevent the dot markers from bleeding through. While this works, copy paper does get wrinkly after the paint dries, while card stock does not.}

Other Supplies You May Want to Get
