Reading the Alphabet Letter J
Letter J features an emergent reader with six j pictures and the sight word to.
Here are some snapshots of our week with letter J:
Rainbow circling all to‘s in the emergent reader as we looked at the text the first time. We also go through and name each picture before he reads it by himself the first time, too.
He made his sight word poke page a playdough mat again this week. I let him at it alone and was impressed to see how he did!
At the bottom, he’s writing 5 since he found to five times.
He thoroughly enjoyed the newer sight word puzzle and maze again this week.
He was so proud of his coloring with the jet color by sight word page.
I also let him have at this count and trace activity this week. He didn’t stick with it too long, but I caught his last time on camera before he cleaned it up. 🙂
My favorite shot this week was watching him “teach” MBug {2.5 years} how to clap and count syllables. So cute. The crazy thing is, I think she was getting it!
I also played the same initial sound pocket chart game that we did last week with Letter Q {click on that lesson to see how we played}. He needed less support this week than last, which was encouraging. It also helps that the game doesn’t last forever. 😉

Thanks so much for creating and sharing this curriculum! This is exactly where my little boy is too. He knows his letters and their sounds, but he isn’t quite ready to read.
It’s my pleasure! I’m so glad it will work for him!
