Mix n’ Match Spelling Activity Pack

After creating TONS of low prep phonics games this past summer, I am a little addicted. Hehe. So, I created a Mix n’ Match Spelling Activity Pack to share today! {Note: The free download can be found at the END of this post!}

This activity makes for a GREAT independent activity for at home or at a literacy center to review the spelling patterns your child/students have studied.

Mix n’ Match Spelling Activity Pack

This pack has been in the works for months as we’ve used a few of them at home already. And my boys have really enjoyed them, so I added a few more phonics features to the pack to share with you. Included in this spelling activity pack are a mix n’ match sheet for these six vowel patterns:

• short vowel words (CVC)
• short vowel words with blends and digraphs (CCVC/CVCC)
• r-influenced words
• silent e words (CVCe – excluding e_e)
• vowel digraph words (CVVC)
• final long vowel words (such as ow, oe, ie, etc.)

With each vowel pattern, they cut out the vowels and mix n’ match them up to make different words. You can require only real words or you can allow silly words, too. Above is an example with our short vowel page.

To extend the activity, kids use a recording sheet where they can write down the words they make. If you allow for silly words, the directions ask kids to circle the real words.
