ALuv (almost 7 years old) has always been such a laid back child. I thought I had the “corner” on being a mom…then along came NJoy. Now, don’t get me wrong. He’s SUCH a joy. Just a very busy and very lively joy! 🙂
A few months ago, Penny from Reading with TLC, emailed to ask me if I’d review a reading program called Lively Letters. After skimming through the website, I could see right away that this lively curriculum would be perfect for my lively preschooler!
We’ve been using it all summer, alongside my Reading the Alphabet program. (The letter learning portion is only a part of the Lively Letters Program, as it teaches patterns all the way through words like fruit, slurp, and stream.)
The Lively Letter Packet Includes…
- an introductory DVD
- the Instruction Manual, which explains the research behind the program as well as TONS of helpful hints and teaching ideas
- a Lively Letters CD, which has a cute and lively song to go with each letter and phonogram sound (44 of them)
- Lively Letter picture cards, that show in a VERY creative way, how the letters and phonograms are supposed to be pronounced in the mouth-these accompany the songs on the CD and have stories to students remember the sounds better
- Let’s Practice Reading with TLC-reproducible worksheets and activities to compliment Lively Letters
Lively Letter in Action!
My kiddos have GREATLY enjoyed the music, dancing, letter card pictures, and movement included in the curriculum. Here are a couple of pictures of NJoy and MBug as we danced to the music, making the letter sounds. Fun, Fun, FUN!
The Quiet Friendly Dragon (letter F)
Quiet Tongue Dancing Sound (Letter T)
The Lively Letter cards are irresistible to my kiddos!
Even ALuv has been super curious about the harder phonogram patterns, like oy, one we’ve yet to study.
One of my favorite quotes from the Instruction Manual that made a big fan out of me is-“Typically, when a students learns sounds, he uses the left side of his brain…with the Lively Letters program, students will also be using the right sides of their brains, which deal with pictures and creativity” and movement (italics, my addition). pg. 9
And now, I am super excited to tell you that you can enter (Rafflecopter below) to win Lively Letters, too! YAY! Be sure to read the Terms & Conditions.
