Letter G Books

The books in our list feature these letter G words: goats, gruff, go, garden, goodnight, guess, gorilla, and giving.

The Three Billy Goats Gruff by Paul Galdone is just a classic. I fondly remember loving this story as a little girl. Not only that, but acting out the story over and over again. Please note that the troll might be a little scary for younger children.

Go, Dog, Go! by P.D. Eastman is another one I thoroughly enjoyed as a little girl. My Kindergartner just discovered a few months ago that he could read all the words and has even slept with the book! 🙂 By the way, the board book does leave out a lot of the book, but was also a favorite for my oldest son as a toddler and preschooler.

Over in the Garden by Jennifer Ward is a spin off of Over in the Meadow. It features creepy crawly creatures in a cute rhyming song. Also included are hidden numbers, which makes it even more fun!

Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown is another classic that should be in your personal library if you have young kiddos! We have included in several of our book lists, including our Rhyming Books and Favorite Books for Babies & Toddlers.

Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney is a great little story about a daddy hare and the love he has for his baby hare. While I admit this book isn’t filled with words that begin with the letter g, the book is truly a fun guessing game about the love of a parent for his child.

Although this book is not completely a wordless book, Goodnight Gorilla by Peggy Rathmann pretty close, as the story is told mainly through the pictures. The little gorilla is up to no good and releases all the zoo animals. They even enter the zookeeper’s house without him even noticing! SO cute!!

G is for Goat by Patricia Polacco is an rhyming alphabet book about goats. If you’re studying the farm, this charming book is great for vocabulary and has a surprise ending for the letter Z!

thegivingtreeThe Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein is one we like to read around apple harvest time in the fall, but it fits nicely with the letter G. What a great book for teaching selflessness, kindness, and giving to others.
