Let’s talk about keeping a homesteading notebook. This is something I started working on a few months ago, and I’m so thankful I did.
Having hard copies of tips, tricks, and recipes for homesteading and healthy living has come in handy more than once.

Keeping a Homesteading Notebook
Although I’ve been blogging for years, I’m not too great at processing digital resources. I’m a hands-on learner. I need to highlight and write comments because it helps me learn and remember better.
I’m not a sensationalist, but I have noticed helpful articles disappearing from the internet in the last year or two. When I find a helpful article, I print it out and put it in my notebook so I’ll always have access to it.
Some of the places I’ve personally found helpful articles have been:
You might have your favorite online places, and I hope my blog will be one of them! Find all my homesteading resources & printables HERE.

To get started on your notebook, grab at least a 2-inch binder. I found one that I already had in my homeschool closet. {I may upgrade to a larger one as time goes by…plus purple isn’t my favorite color.}
As you find online articles and recipes, print them out and add them to your notebook.

Inside my notebook, I have three main topics/tabs: Health, Homesteading, and Food. These are VERY broad and a lot can fit under each one. You are welcome to narrow down the topics of your homesteading notebook tabs.
In the free printable at the bottom of this post, I have twenty-two ready-made tabs you can glue or tape into your notebook. They include:
- baking
- bees
- bread
- canning
- chickens
- cooking
- cows
- food
- garden
- goats
- handmade
- health
- herbs
- homemade
- homestead
- livestock
- nutrition
- organic
- pigs
- prepping
- preserving
- recipes
I’ve also included EIGHT write-on tabs if you don’t see a topic you’d like to include.
Enjoy homesteading!
