School’s officially out for us, but learning continues through the summer, too! One thing we did this week was have a little fun with our new summer playdough mats {free download at the end of this post}. Because my kids enjoy playing with our Winter/Christmas and Spring/Easter playdough mat packs so much that I made some for summer, too. I love these mats because they are 1) fun, 2) foster creativity, and 3) encourage fine motor play.
There are 8 summer-themed playdough mats in our pack. I always print ours onto card stock and then slip into a plastic sleeve protector, although you could laminate them instead. The idea is to start with a very basic image and let the child explore his or her creativity by adding playdough to complete the picture.
This time, we added a bit of pizzazz by including pony beads and googly eyes to the mix!
Here are some photos of our playdough fun:
sandcastle playdough mat {NJoy, 5.5 years old}
MBug, 4 years old, pinched off the playdough piece by piece (which is great for fine motor)and decorated her beach ball mat.
bee mat {ALuv, 8.5 years old}
NSis {2 years} liked me lining up the playdough on the beach ball mat so she could poke her finger in each color.
