Bible literacy has ALWAYS been important for followers of Christ! We need to be in God’s Word often {if not daily} and applying the Truth into our lives. In today’s episode, Amy and I {Becky} explore several reasons why Bible literacy is so important for us.

Spoiler Alert! Just one of the points we discuss is that reading and heeding God’s Word can protect us from ourselves.

That’s because left on our own, we tend to minimize our sin instead of seeing it as God does. We tend to justify our sin instead of seeing it as God does. We tend to compare our sin to other’s sin instead of seeing it as God does. We also tend to rename our sin to make it sound nicer {I’m sharing a prayer request with someone, not gossiping} instead of seeing it as God does. David prayed a bold prayer in Psalm 139:23-24 that God would search him and show him his sin. Spending time with God in His Word helps us to see our sin as God does. Ouch!
