When you are teaching multiple children, whether in a classroom setting or at home, low prep and simple activities are a MUST for your sanity. That’s why I’ve come to love this VERY simple, low prep activity of stamping sight words.
Stopping to take the time to spell words can help kids become better readers. My kids like doing this and it’s SO easy to differentiate the activity so each child {Pre-K, K, and 3rd grade} can do it at their own level of learning.

Stamping Sight Words
This idea is so basic, I’m almost embarrassed to post about it, but it has been such a hit at our house {for me and my kids} that I couldn’t pass it up.
Simply take a piece of paper and fold it 3 times so that you have 8 equal rectangles on the paper. Younger kids will need your help to do this, but older kids can totally do this by themselves.
On each of the 8 rectangles write a sight word for your child to stamp. For my preschooler, I used 8 sight words she’s been learning from Reading the Alphabet. With my boys, I looked through their writing and picked 8 sight words that they consistently either ask me to spell or misspell.
Another adaptation is to write the 8 words on a dry erase board or separate piece of paper and kids can write the sight words at the top themselves before stamping. If you do it this way, your prep work is cut even further down. Woohoo!
This makes a great independent activity that kids can do while you’re working with other kids…and added bonus when you’re juggling multiple kids at once.
