Although I don’t make new year’s resolutions, I do take the time to set goals for myself. This year, one of my goals was to make dinner AT HOME more often. January came and went and I realized that I didn’t do anything to work towards that goal {shame on me}. So I devised a plan. Why not ask other mamas who are just as busy as I am to share their tried and true family meals? Over 30 bloggers are joining forces in what we’re calling SIMPLE FAMILY DINNER.
In the next month, over 30 recipes will be shared and pinned. Want to see all the recipes? Click on the image above or HERE as they are pinned. I encourage you to follow along with each amazing mama blogger {see the list at the end of the post}.
Today, I’m co-hosting with Jill of Enchanted Homeschooling Mom, Mari of Inspired by Family, and Rachel of Sun Scholars, as we post our favorite meals.
Make Your Own Personal Pizzas
1. To feed my family (2 adults and 3 kids eating), this is the portion size we used
- 8 pack of whole wheat hamburger buns, separated (you could also use pita bread, flour tortillas, or English muffins for this recipe)
- 15-oz can/jar of all natural spaghetti sauce
- a 12-oz block of mozzarella cheese (or your favorite pizza cheese). You can buy the cheese already shredded, but I like the texture of freshly grated cheese. It also melts better.
- any pizza toppings you like- we had pepperoni and mushroom, but you could get even more creative with your toppings
{As sides, I cut apart strawberries, bananas, and drained and mixed in a can of mandarin oranges. I also cut up some cucumber.)
2. The fun part begins. Everyone gets to make their own personal pizzas just as they like! Place your ingredients out there buffet style and let everyone design their own.
Here are two of my designers in action. {I used wax paper as a working surface as it makes it easy to clean up the mess!}
3. Place all the pizzas on a tray and put in the oven 375 for 8-10 minutes.
They are a sure crowd pleaser…and much healthier {and cost effective} than buying a pizza for everyone. There you have it. Our SIMPLE FAMILY DINNER.
