Ever noticed how life is a truly a balance? In order to do some things well, you just have to say “no” to other things. My friend Lara posted about this recently and it’s so true. I’m truly grateful that I have the Lord to show me the areas in which I need to say “no” so I can say “yes “to other things. It is all too tempting to make life all about me and to say “yes” only to the things I want, even when I should be saying “no”. Are you following?
Well, He’s really been speaking to me to say “no” to blogging for the weekend and part of next week. I’ve fought Him on it…oh, believe me. You see, writing is my release. I’ve kept a journal as long as I can remember. Plus, blogging is just plain fun! And then there’s the voices…you know- those voices, “Other moms can do it; why can’t you?” “You need to make sure and post at least every other day.” But in the middle of it all, I’m choosing to listen to His voice. It’s Truth. It’s Life.
You see, this weekend I’m away on a retreat (this post is scheduled). It’s a retreat I’ve done every year (with the exception of last year) with my college roommates. 13 years now, I believe. We catch up on life, pray for one another, and just have fun! I think this year, they’ll actually be no babies going…which is a first in quite some time.
With that being said, He spoke. “Spend some time with those 3 precious babies of yours and get off the computer!” So I’m obeying Him. I don’t want to miss out on the blessing of saying “no”; even when I want to say “yes”.
What about you? Have you done this recently, too?
Thank you for joining This Reading Mama on a literacy journey!
