Here are some sites I discovered this week while surfing around…
- I discovered a UK website from The Book Chook that I’d never heard of before. It’s called CBeebies. One thing I noticed while looking at the read aloud stories is that the language may need to be explained first to a child in the states. For example, it reads, “Once upon a jump…” instead of “Once upon a time…”.
- While we’re on the subject of The Book Chook, check out her article about helping kids to link reading and writing. Oh, and this one too–playing around with words to increase literacy.
- Do you have bottle caps and aren’t sure of some literacy ideas to go with them? Check this out. Love it!
- Found this site by “mistake” last night. It is a GREAT resource to help you understand Words Their Way and Word Study.
