It’s been a different pace over here at This Reading Mama’s house for the last few weeks. Between all three kids having the stomach bug, just the summer lazies, and the fact that I’M IN MY FIRST TRIMESTER OF PREGNANCY (10 weeks today); we’ve been quite lazy over here! But I’ve managed to get a a few shots of all three kiddos as we’ve sporadically integrated literacy (outside of organized lesson plans).
ALuv has really taken to reading these days, especially the books in his independent reading bin (on a K level). And when he starts, he reads and reads and reads. He will read every book in his book bin…some from last September!
NJoy takes advantage of the reading spree. Listening to books is one of NJoy’s favorite things to do. It really does a mama’s heart proud.
NJoy wants to do teaching “mats” (as I’ve adapted them) constantly! Beads, Play-Doh, pom-poms, anything he can get his hands on. It’s “Mommy, can you get out the…” One day, I was sick on the couch and he wanted to get into the drawers so badly that he took it upon himself to open a drawer. The only problem: they tumbled right on top of him. I had a mess to clean up to say the least! We are also working slowly on our letters..currently letter T. I haven’t been too consistent with this lately, but we’ll buckle down once our school year begins (and I begin to get some energy back with the 2nd trimester).
MBug enjoys writing (AND WALKING EVERYWHERE) and she’s progressed from
Don’t be too impressed. As soon as I finished this picture, I had to take the marker from her because she kept trying to put it in her mouth. But it was fun while it lasted!
She’s also enjoys playing with some of the bigger pieces I have in my teaching mat drawers, like these interlocking people I got at Target in the $1 bin about a month ago. She really likes to put them in, dump them out, transferring them from “bowl” to “bowl”. The colorful “bowls” are really these stacking cups made by Fisher Price. A friend introduced them to me years ago and they have proven to be an amazing toy. You can do so many things it!
So, there you have it: our lazy few weeks. And we’re enjoying them while we still can! 🙂
Thank you for joining This Reading Mama on a literacy journey!
