Our last letter of the week…A! It’s kind of funny to think we did A last. And I’m a little sad that we’re “done” with these.
I had plenty of places to find apple printables, seeing that Erica and Carisa both chose that theme for their A Weeks. But once again, I couldn’t help but create a few of my own. (I’m addicted to making printables now…at least that’s what my husband says!)
Letter A Work
A Cut & Paste Sheet-I do not have sound tubs for my vowels so these sheets have been great to reinforce the vowel sounds!
A Tracing–don’t you love the “pencil grip”
A/Apple Do-a-Dot–love the face!
A is for Apples

He drew an apple on the green paper, then we glued down the sentence “My apple is big and green.” (There’s also a red and yellow version on the download.) To see all of my print awareness activities, click here.

An easy and FUN game that my kids play over and over again! I adapted it from our Snug as a Bug in a Rug game and made it with an ant hiding behind apples.
You can adapt this game for the very young as well! MBug LOVES to play it with NJoy.

We did this activity after reading Chicka, Chicka 123. NJoy is working on recognizing #1-20. The download has two versions: Numbers 1-20 and Numbers 10-20. We did the 10-20 version. His attention span only lasts for so long!
It’s play dough time! ALuv is finished with his homeschool co-op for the year, so our usual Friday play dough day still stands. They just all get to participate now.
Books We Read Aloud: (among other books read aloud, here are the ones we read this week with an apple theme)
Chicka, Chicka 123 (we also watched it on Youtube)
NJoy’s favorite: Ten Apples Up on Top
MBug’s Favorite: The Apple Thief-on every page, she’d see an apple and exclaim, “/a/ – /a/ – apple!”
I pulled an independent reader for ALuv called Who Will Help? (it’s a variation of The Little Red Hen; but about a mouse making applesauce…perfect for our theme of apples!) By the way, I’ve noticed lately how easy my K independent readers are for ALuv…Yay! It’s time to get into the attic and pull out the first grade books!
So, there it is…our last letter in our Letter of the Week! But…
…I do have a curriculum idea in the making for NJoy! We’re going to start on it this summer and test it out. And if it works, I’ll be launching it in the fall. So, stay tuned!

We are finishing up our “letter of the week” activities at our house next week. Our last one is Zz though but I wish it were Aa! I love your printables for this letter and it looks like you kiddos had a great week!
hi, I love your work! I nanny for a four year old and he loves your reading the alphabet activities. his brother will be 2 in feb and I was wondering what age you started these activities? he has a good attention span and is already learning to count. Many thanks
I started Reading the Alphabet with my son when he was 3.5. I started the letter of the week type activities, like you see in this post, at age 2. Hope that helps.
