Day 3: You Can Read Sight Word Program {Review and Giveaway}

By thisreadingmama 121 Comments

I was given a free copy of You Can Read by Carisa of 1+1+1=1.  The free copy did not influence or encourage me to write this positive review.  Her program rocked before I ever received it for free.  You can read more in my full disclosure policy.

You Can Read Button 200x200

1+1+1=1 is one of the first homeschooling blogs I began following a few years ago.  The moment I clicked on it for the first time, I was hooked.  Literally.  Carisa’s teaching philosophy and way of homeschooling so jives with everything I believe about teaching.  Developmentally appropriate practices combined with best teaching practices- simply refreshing.

Play Doh Words

You Can Read Sight Word Program

Her sight word program, You Can Read, is no exception to the rule.  She designed it for her 4 year old {I simply adore the band-aid on the cheek}, who was ready for an introduction to sight words.  The activities are fun and predictable in nature, helping young readers grasp those vital beginning sight words.  {As a side note, this program is also perfect in nature for kids a little older who are struggling with learning sight words.}

We have yet to use Carisa’s sight word program, but you’d better believe that next year, my own 4 year old boy will be. 🙂  I KNOW he will totally dig it!

I am honored to partner with Carisa to give away a bundle package {$10 value} to one of my readers for the 7 Days of School Day Giveaways series {feel free to enter any of the giveaways listed}!  You can enter to win Carisa’s You can Read via the Rafflecopter widget below.  Please note that the only mandatory entry is a comment on this blog post.  This giveaway ends Friday, July 19th.

    I have taught two readers so far and what I love about teaching reading is that it allows them to feel good about themselves when they read things. It is an esstential tool that no one can take from them. I love to see the kids get excited when we return from the library with stacks of books. They get lost in reading, they laugh and giggle and eagerly share what they read in the books.
