10 Read Alouds for the 100th Day of School | This Reading MamaThe 100th day of school may be nearing for you and your students. How exciting! I always love to make a big “to-do” about the 100th day. It’s nice to take a break from the ordinary and do something different. And today, No Doubt Learning and I are co-hosting a Celebrate the 100th Day of School blog hop to help you do just that. Be sure to hop over to her post today (100 Fun Ways to Integrate Reading into Your Homeschool). I am sharing 10 Read Alouds for the 100th Day of School that will help you celebrate for sure! While these books work perfectly for the 100th day of school, they can be read at ANY time of the year (over and over again).

Chicka, Chicka 123 by Bill Martin Jr. ~ Read Alouds for the 100th Day of School | This Reading MamaChicka, Chicka 123 is a delightful little rhyming book about numbers 1-100. As everyone counts around the tree, the extra little zero wonders if there will be a place for him. If you kids like Chicka, Chicka Boom Boom, they will like this book just as well!

 

I'll Teach my Dog 100 Words by Michael Frith ~ Read Alouds for the 100th Day of School | This Reading Mama

Pair I’ll Teach My Dog 100 Words up with asking kids to explore 100 words that they know! If you teach in the classroom, start a list on chart paper, allowing kids to write words they know during down times of the school day. Can they reach 100? If you teach at home, start a list before the 100th day of school and add to it at any time. Can your child reach 100 by the 100th day of school?

 

One Hundred Hungry Ants by Elinor J. Pinczes ~ Read Alouds for the 100th Day of School | This Reading Mama

If you make a 100th day snack or ask your kids to collect 100 of something, 100 Hungry Ants is a great hands-on book for teaching beginning division!

Break out the Cheerios and The Cheerios Counting Book. Count by 2’s, by 5’s, or by 10’s. We have this book and my kids (ages 22 months to 8 years) like it any time of the year.

 

100 Snowmen by Jen Arena ~ Read Alouds for the 100th Day of School | This Reading Mama

Do you want a book with great illustrations and a strong math foundation for adding numbers? Then 100 Snowmen is your book! Kids will have fun counting all the snowmen from 1 to 100!

 

Centipede's 100 Shoes by Tony Ross ~ Read Alouds for the 100th Day of School | This Reading Mama

This book is SUPER cute and charming! Can centipede get shoes on this aching feet before the end of the day? Will he have to give some away? Find out by reading Centipede’s 100 Shoes. Your kids will love the silly story, while learning about numbers and sharing.

 

The Wolf's Chicken Stew by Keiko Kasza ~ Read Alouds for the 100th Day of School | This Reading Mama

The wolf wants nothing more than some yummy chicken stew. So he goes about sharing with the chicken (in the 100’s) to butter her up. Will his plan work or will it backfire on him? You must read The Wolf’s Chicken Stew to find out!

From One to One Hundred by Teri Sloat ~ Read Alouds for the 100th Day of School | This Reading Mama

Want to challenge your child who already knows how to count by 1’s to 100? From One to One Hundred would be the book. The numbers are hidden in the pictures in ways that you wouldn’t expect all the way to 100.
