FREE Phonics Cards
This huge pack of phonics cards came about because my 3 year old {NSis} saw me making the long vowel cards and asked me to make some alphabet cards for her. So, I found some super cute clip art and went to town adding lots of different phonics cards…and out popped a new subscriber freebie. 🙂
For NSis, I printed all the alphabet cards {A-Z} on card stock and laminated them for durability. Then, I hole-punched the left corner of all the cards and attached them to a 1-inch key ring to make an alphabet flip book.
She loves to flip through it, naming all the pictures on the bottom of each card. It’s been a great letter sound reinforcer for her and a fabulous way to build vocabulary. I often find her flipping through it and singing her ABC’s. So precious!
The alphabet cards have the vowels with a dark pink background and the consonants in blue. There are color-coded phonics cards for short vowel sounds AND long vowel sounds. I also included cards for final x, hard and soft c/g, and the final sound of y {long i and long e}, which are not pictured.
I also made some color-coded cards for all blends {l-blends, r-blends, s-blends, & a few other blends} plus cards for the ch, sh, th, wh, ph, kn, and wr digraphs.
The reason I color-coded the phonics cards was to make it easier for kids to tell the difference between the phonics patterns, especially if several of the patterns are featured on a wall or in a flip book at one time.
BONUS! After the entire set was complete, I found more clip art and decided to make 7 more phonics cards for these consonant clusters: scr, shr, spl, spr, squ, str, and thr!
By entering your email address, you will be added to my newsletter. As a subscriber, you will receive an email with the password to my exclusive subscriber page, where I house all my subscriber freebies. Please be patient, as it may take up to an hour to receive the email with the password.
Don’t MISS 50 MORE Phonics Cards, also a subscriber freebie!!
~Becky

Hey, I love all your stuff! I’m a former SPED teacher and currently a Reading Recovery teacher who also serves Tier III students. I have found many of your things useful for my groups. Just one suggestion: The super chunky font (in the consonant cluster puzzles) is a just a bit difficult for strugglers to read. Maybe a font that is a little less thick/chunky would be easier. Thanks again for your great resources!
thisreadingmama says
Thanks for the tip. 🙂

Love EVERYTHING you create! Thanks for sharing!
