ALuv (age 6) and I had fun with these Thanksgiving “Magnet Mosaics” from Making Learning Fun. If you have the Rainbow Set & the Brilliant Set of Do-a-Dot paint, then you have the colors you need to do this, too! We had to “fudge” on the black and mixed a few colors to get a black look.
I printed onto cardstock & laminated the Turkey Magnet Mosaic, Native American Magnet Mosaic, and the Indian Corn Magnet Mosaic from Making Learning Fun. Since we don’t currently have the round magnet pieces that are supposed to go with these mosaics, I created a grid page and printed it on to cardstock. {You can snag the free printable at the end of this post.} We used our Do-a-Dot paints to recreate the same picture. The squares on my download are a little larger to accommodate the dots.
ALuv was unsure at first, but after I modeled with the Native American, he got the hang of it and was begging for more. 🙂 We had to adapt a few of the colors, but it worked.
ALuv then tried his hand at the turkey first.
Here’s his finished turkey. Gobble! Gobble!
The Indian corn was a bit harder for him, but we worked as a team and got it done!
So, if you’ve got the supplies, give it a try! This would be a fun craft to do outside of schoolwork next week during Thanksgiving.
