While I enjoy the commercial side of Christmas just as much as anyone else {the lights – the songs – the smells and sounds}, I do not ever want that part to overshadow the real reason we celebrate Christmas in the first place…the Christ Child’s birth.
Jesus truly is the reason for the season!
Got a learner struggling to memorize their multiplication facts?
I HIGHLY recommend Times Tales!
Nativity Pattern Block Mats
Years ago, my kids helped me design some Nativity Pattern Block Mats, created to fit with these pattern blocks. I’m sharing them with you for free today.
While your learners are busy covering and mats, I would encourage you to read the Christmas story from the Bible.
You could also retell it from memory or use a story book with the Biblical account, but I like kids to see that I’m reading from the actual Bible and not just telling a story that happened long ago. God’s Word is true, and it’s relevant today, too!
In this pack, are 6 mats that correspond with the Nativity story, found in Luke 2 and Matthew 1-2.
- angel mat
- Jesus in the manger mat
- shepherd mat
- star mat
- wiseman mat
- camel mat
Here is the example of the baby Jesus mat:
After my kiddos used the paper mats, my older ones extended the learning by using our Giant Magnetic Pattern Blocks on our magnetic dry erase board.
On This Reading Mama, we also have a Graph & Tally Pack to extend the learning even more!
