Listed below are some Letter E Books that correspond with the letter E printables we have from Learning the Alphabet {for kids who need to learn their letters/sounds} or Reading the Alphabet {for kids who are ready for something after the ABC’s}. Of course, these books can be read at any time, but if you like the letter of the week style, these go well with Letter E.

Letter E Books
Letter E Words Featured: Elmer, elephant, ear, egg, engine, & excavator.
Elmer by David McKee is a super colorful book about an elephant named Elmer who is very different from the rest of his herd. Because he’s different, he decides to run away and “paint” himself gray to look like the others. He returns to find that his herd loves him just the way he is. If your kids like Elmer, they will be pleased to see that McKee has written quite a collection of Elmer books, including our newest favorite that we featured in our Making Predicitons post.
The Ear Book by Al Perkins is a book about all the things kids can hear with their ears. With a simple rhyme, it’s quite catchy and will keep the attention of even those wiggly kiddos.
Elephants Cannot Dance by Mo Willems is just ONE of his many Elephant and Piggie books. My preschooler and Kindergartner are both addicted to these books. We usually bring home 4-5 a week from the library. 🙂 This one features elephant, as he is trying to learn to dance. I love how Mo Willem’s books always have a fun twist at the end!
What comes first: the chicken or the egg? It may seem that First the Egg by by Laura Vaccaro Seeger answers this question, but it doesn’t. 🙂 I love how it not only shows kids the progression of things in nature (like chickens and frogs), but the progression of writing stories and painting pictures. Simple pictures and simple words makes this one a winner for the very young child.
The Little Engine that Could by Watty Piper was an absolute favorite of my oldest son for many months. We read it every.single.day. It’s the classic story of “I think I can…I think I can…” and I loved comparing it to the story of the Good Samaritan from the Bible.
Green Eggs and Ham is a classic by Dr. Seuss that most everyone probably knows by heart. It’s also included in our list of Favorite Books that Rhyme.
The Construction Alphabet Book by Jerry Pallotta is a great book for kids who are into construction vehicles! The realistic images along with quick, descriptive text for each letter/vehicle make this book a fascinating read. And if you have younger kids who just won’t sit still, you can probably get by with just reading the first sentence on each page and talking about the picture, like we did when my boys were younger.
An Egg is Quiet by Dianna Hutts Aston is a fabulous little book that describes the attributes of eggs…all kinds of eggs. Kids will not only learn about different kinds of eggs, but about the animals who lay them.
