Christmas smells are some of my favorite. How about you? The smell of a fresh Christmas tree or wreath, or if you’re like me, the smell of a Christmas Yankee Candle…any of them. But alas! Our Christmas tree is artificial and I was bummed to discover my Yankee Candle was all gone this year. 🙁
So, I used my back-up. Good old stove top Christmas Potpourri. Brings back memories. This is the same recipe my mom used and it’s SO EASY.
Ingredients:
- 3 or 4 thin slices of an orange (with peel)
- 2 or 3 thin slices of a lemon (with peel)
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 10 cloves
- water (enough to cover)
Simply place all your ingredients into the pot,
bring it to a boil, then turn down the heat a bit and let it simmer! (I wish you could smell it through the computer.) A crockpot also works well.
I promise your whole house will smell like Christmas! I just LOVE it. And there’s no need to make a fresh pot each day. I use mine for 4 or 5 days, continuing to add more water as needed. When I’m done with the old batch, I dump it down the garbage disposal, turn it on, and it makes the sink smell good, too!
Try some stove top potpourri this year. You’ll be hooked! 🙂
Merry Christmas
