For the past 2 weeks, NJoy has been working on the letter M. We’ve had a busy couple of weeks, so we worked on and off.
I couldn’t decide on just one M theme, so we did several; but we did a lot with M&M’s…because what kid wouldn’t want to
eat do schoolwork with them?
These M&M activities came from Confessions of a Homeschooler:
He did some M&M math (so did ALuv).
M&M counting 1 to 10: I did this a little different than Erica suggested to save on lamination sleeves.
ALuv did some comparing of numbers with M&M’s. (I saw this idea here first.)
…then compared their sums. I adapted the sheet I saw on QM’s site, since I didn’t see a download option on her post. You can download my adaptation here. It contains a b&w version and color version (in the picture above). I love doing math activities that require writing. Gotta sneak it in whenever you can!
Here are three other awesome online resources I found for M&M activities:
M Read Alouds
If You Give a Moose a Muffin by Laura J. Numeroff- of course, we HAD to bake some muffins after reading the story!
Five Little Monkeys by Eileen Christelow -some jumping was in order! He also really likes to sing to Dr. Jean’s 5 Little Monkeys song; he especially likes to say, “Missed me, missed me. Now you’ve got to kiss me!” This is an old picture of him jumping on one of the Volvo truck cushions we get out for those “rainy days”. I didn’t get a recent shot.
We also read Mary Had a Little Lamb from my Christian Nursery Rhymes and did some activities with it, but I’ll be sharing more about this in the fall. I’m working on some activities for each of my nursery rhymes.
By the way, it turns out that Carisa has just posted the Letter M activities she did with her little girl recently. You can see her post here.
And…Some Letter Review
